Matrimonial and Family Problems

We recognise that the breakdown of a relationship can be traumatic and stressful and is a very concerning and difficult time for those involved.

Howell & Co. offer a Specialist Family Law Service dealing in all aspects of relationship breakdowns, including Divorce, Separation Agreements, Financial and Property Disputes,
Children Disputes, Prenuptial Agreements, Cohabitation Agreements and Disputes, Civil Partnership Dissolution, Domestic Violence and Harassment Injunctions.

If you are thinking of getting married or living with someone, we also deal with prenuptial agreements, co-habitation agreements or living together agreements.

Our Family Law Department is headed by Peter Burden, a Partner in the firm and an Accredited Resolution Specialist. Peter is also a Member of the Law Society’s Family Law Panel and a trained Mediator.  Whilst Mediation will not be suitable in all cases, it can provide an alternative and cost effective approach of achieving a settlement without the need for Court proceedings.

Dr Laura Brampton also works in the family law department, and deals with a range of family law issues, particularly matters relating to children (for example, contact and residence disputes).

Peter and his team will deal with you compassionately and professionally and offer a high quality, friendly service, giving realistic and pragmatic advice in what can be difficult times.

We offer privately funded legal services.  Peter’s hourly rate is £190.00 plus VAT.  We also offer a fixed fee first interview of £100.00 plus VAT, for up to a one hour consultation.

In addition, we offer a fixed price for preparing, issuing and completing an uncontested Divorce of £495 plus VAT plus Court fees (currently £410.00) and any other expenses (for example, should it be necessary to obtain a certified copy of your marriage certificate or for the other party to be personally served with the proceedings).
